Our classrooms tend to be smaller than a traditional high school and while in school, students are immersed in a blended learning environment. What this means is that for their English and Math classes students will be in a traditional teacher-led classroom, similar to what you see in a traditional high school. For the rest of the time, students are in a lab environment working at their own pace through the rest of the classes. In the labs, there is a teacher to provide one-on-one support.
Students attend school for four hours a day Monday-Friday. You’ll have the option to attend our morning or afternoon session.
For those students who cannot attend regularly, we have the OMB Online Academy which provides greater schedule flexibility.

Our campus offers students a flexible 4-hour schedule that is filled with engaging lessons and spirited campus activities that encourage students to reach their academic and personal goals. Whether you are looking for a smaller class size, to recover credit, graduate early, or work school into adult life responsibilities- Charter Valencia keeps that diploma in sight.
This year, we are very excited to announce the implementation of our new Edmentum curriculum, providing students with multiple ways to engage with content, through teacher-led instruction and through online lessons. Students will also learn important soft skills that will help them navigate life after high school. As a Microsoft Showcase School, our students gain workplace experience they can add to their resumes. Students are given opportunities to explore college, trade, and career options throughout the year. As educators, our goal is to engage students in their learning and teach them accountability and time management. All students are assigned a mentor teacher who helps them stay on track with coursework and meet their graduation goals.

A message from the director at Hiaki Member Campus, Dr. Carlos Gallego:
Dear Student and Family,
Welcome back to the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year! We are very happy to have you back and look forward to helping you realize your scholarly potential and maximize your academic success. As the school Director at Hiaki High School, I’m very excited about working with new and returning students and their families. Additionally, I’m happy to have a great group of experienced staff and teachers who have been working hard to master the new Edmentum educational software to make sure students will progress toward graduation in a timely manner. We all know that families play an extremely important role in student success, so we look forward to their continued support and assistance.
For those who may not know me yet, I’d like to offer some brief words as a means of introducing myself. I have been involved in education for 25 years, as a teacher, professor, and administrator. I have worked with students of various age groups and backgrounds (cultural, racial, economic, etc.), ranging from daycare duties while I was an undergraduate to teaching graduate students as a university professor. After receiving my degrees from the University of Arizona, I left to pursue my Ph.D. in English at Stanford University. I finished my degree while working for charter schools in South Tucson and for Pima County, specifically with at-risk middle school and high school students. Upon receiving my doctorate, I worked for 6 years at the University of Arizona as a professor, and then taught for 10 more years at St. Olaf College, a private liberal arts institution in Minnesota. On a personal note, my hobbies include combat sports like MMA and various outdoor activities, though I’m equally satisfied binge-watching television shows and movies as a way of relaxing.
In summary, I simply want to communicate how happy we all are at Hiaki High School to be working with students and their families. We look forward to what we’ll accomplish together this upcoming year. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns, and I look forward to meeting you in person.
Sincerely,
Dr. Carlos Gallego
