Our classrooms tend to be smaller than a traditional high school and while in school, students are immersed in a blended learning environment. What this means is that for their English and Math classes students will be in a traditional teacher-led classroom, similar to what you see in a traditional high school. For the rest of the time, students are in a lab environment working at their own pace through the rest of the classes. In the labs, there is a teacher to provide one-on-one support.
Students attend school for four hours a day Monday-Friday. You’ll have the option to attend our morning or afternoon session.
For those students who cannot attend regularly, we have the OMB Online Academy which provides greater schedule flexibility.

Principal's Letter
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!
I for one am excited as it will be my sixth year as a Principal of Ombudsman and my first at Charter West. After gathering a wide range of experience in Arizona education ranging from High School to the University level, I am excited to be a part of a team that represents a mission I truly believe in. Here at Ombudsman…
Our mission is to provide personalized, evidence-based educational services for nontraditional learners…
Today’s definition of education needs to change. Students today do not learn the same way they did ten years ago. I want to work with your student to develop an academic plan that best meets their future goals starting with a high school diploma. Young adults today are creative and unique which is why my team will also strive to ensure that the graduates we produce find creative ways to use their unique skills in the careers of tomorrow! We as a team however are not successful without your student’s commitment to their own academic success.
Just as I hold high academic expectations for your student, I hold even higher expectations for our teachers. As a Principal I understand the need in reaching each unique student in a personalized way. Regardless of what happened 24 hours before, teachers will enter our classrooms knowing that every student can succeed. My bottom line: Students have the right to learn, Teachers have the right to teach, and no one has the right to interfere.
The last part of the Ombudsman mission states that we provide educational services…
…in collaboration with families and school districts.
This means that you play an important role in student success. An open line of communication between you and our school not only leads to immediate success now but leads to the development of lifelong learning habits they will carry well beyond our time with them.
New this year
Is our incentive program called OMB Perks! Our students will have the opportunity to earn points for completing and engaging in our school related activities. Points can be redeemed for a variety of items that including student field trips, gift cards, sweatshirts, a laptop, and many more OMB Perks.
More exciting news! Our parents now have access to a “Parent Portal”. The Odysseyware parent portal will allow the parent to access their student’s progress in all the student’s online courses.
Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow Academy
Our LT Academy continues to expand and offer our students with popular industry certifications. This year we will continue to offer our C-Tech, Medical Billing and Medical Assisting programs throughout the district.
As we dive into this school year, please don’t hesitate to contact me regarding any thoughts or concerns you have about our learning community. Together we will grow academically leading to the celebration of our Class of 2023 graduates in June. It will be a great year and I’m glad you’re a part of the journey!
Educationally yours,
Jessica De La Cruz
