Our classrooms tend to be smaller than a traditional high school and while in school, students are immersed in a blended learning environment. What this means is that for their English and Math classes students will be in a traditional teacher-led classroom, similar to what you see in a traditional high school. For the rest of the time, students are in a lab environment working at their own pace through the rest of the classes. In the labs, there is a teacher to provide one-on-one support.
Students attend school for four hours a day Monday-Friday. You’ll have the option to attend our morning or afternoon session.
For those students who cannot attend regularly, we have the OMB Online Academy which provides greater schedule flexibility.
Testimonials
I’ve been a student at Ombudsman for 3 great years and it’s the best decision I’ve made for my High School career. I’ve attended some of Arizona’s best schools. Although I’ve attended great schools, I was still missing something. I was missing one on one help and a way to attend school with such a busy schedule. That’s what brought me to Ombudsman. I chose Ombudsman to receive the one-on-one help from teachers and staff that larger class sizes did not give me. Ombudsman provided me with flexible schedules and the choice to attend school in the AM or PM.
The reason why I chose Ombudsman was because I was having trouble with working and passing my classes. I wasn’t able to balance my schoolwork and personal life. Ombudsman was there for me and helped with my classes by having flexible schedule for school. Ombudsman has great staff and teachers who care about their students and support them in their goals in life.
Principal's Letter
Dear Charter East Students and Families,
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new principal of Charter East. As an enthusiastic and seasoned professional, I bring 17 years of experience in education working with high school students, specifically in an alternative high school setting such as this. I am excited to join the Ombudsman team, continuing the school’s positive academic performance and student success/achievements. Our theme for this year is “Take the Chance!” and it is our driving force towards students reaching their dreams, college/career readiness, and making positive differences in the world.
This year marks an exciting chapter as we merge East I and East II, our two campuses in Arcadia/East Phoenix, bringing together a diverse and vibrant community under one unified vision. Our goal is to foster a culture of acceptance and positivity where every student feels valued and empowered to achieve their fullest potential. We will set high expectations for attendance, academic standards, communication, and accountability. We aim to have each student graduate high school and earn a diploma. We will continue to use Edmentum as our learning platform, and all our teachers will return for the upcoming school year!
One of the highlights of this year is the introduction of our state-of-the-art Senior Lab. This space features modern furniture and cutting-edge technology, providing our senior students with an environment that supports collaboration, innovation, and academic excellence. As such, we will keep our East I campus, which will now be Building 1, and our East II campus, our main building, Building 2. We believe this addition will significantly enhance the learning experience and prepare our students for future success.
I look forward to working with you to create an atmosphere where every student can thrive. Here’s to a fantastic school year filled with growth, learning, and positive experiences! Together, we will build a supportive and inclusive school community.
Welcome back!
